Reasons to Oppose Obama's Use of CIA Drones
CIA Drones Aid Terrorist Recruitment, 05-02-2012 - 20:54
Despite promises of "change" from the GW Bush regime foreign policy of interventionism, President Obama has chosen to follow the path of his predecessor GW by continuing the use of CIA drones to attack terrorist and "accidental" civilian targets. By killing innocent civilians along with their targets, CIA drones increase anger and thus aid in recruitment to terrorist organizations ("blowback"), thereby making more enemies and justification of an expensive military strategy that only benefits military weapons contractors.

Nick Patterson, 15-01-2012 - 19:15
To our dearest compatriots here in the Rogue Valley:
We understand you need some clarification as to what the Occupy Movement is about. Contrary to what the media would have you believe, we are not all hippies, druggies, or anarchists. In fact, very few…say…1% of us are.

A musical fundraiser, starring the Rogue Suspects, for the ‘Medford 6’ Occupiers, arrested 12-5-11, for seeking representation from their Congressman, Greg Walden
6:30 p.m. January 5th at Roscoe’s BBQ in Phoenix
Who: The Rogue Suspects, Pete Herzog and Patrick Tovatt for "Occupy Walden"

When: 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012

Death of Gaddafi/The NTC's bloody path
Astrid Essed, 07-12-2011 - 12:23
The resistance against the former president Gaddafi was legitimate
However, the rebels not only allied themselves with the NATO, sacrifying real Libyan independence, they also committed warcrimes with little distinction between them and Gaddafi
With Gaddafi gone, it seems, that a new bloody regime has followed

Oakland General Strike a Success
Steven Argue, 07-11-2011 - 04:15
With over 50,000 people protesting in the street in three major protests through the course of the day, massive labor participation, and a shut down of the Port of Oakland, there is no question that the general strike was a success. Yet the corporate media is now blowing up the importance of a few acts of vandalism by protesters and agent provocateurs. This is a blatant attempt divert attention from a successful working class action.

Stop the machine! Create a New World!

STOP THE MACHINE! CREATE A NEW WORLD!
CALL TO ACTION!
OCTOBER 6TH
DOWNTOWN PLAZA IN ASHLAND, OREGON
October 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan and the beginning of the 2012 federal austerity budget. On October 6, 2011, we will stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Washington, D.C., where a huge rally will be taking place. We stand with them for a better world, for a world which refuses to sit in drugged silence as the system around it perpetuates oppression and the illegal wars that impose it. We will stand together against economic exploitation and demand that our economy meets human needs instead of Wall Street profits.
For too long we have stood idly by, hiding our faces from the suffering around us, hoping that it will disappear on its own or that some mythical Other will save us from our own society. It is time for us to wake up, to wake up to the fact that we create the substance of our society and that against the determined will of the people nothing can stand; we must take courage and act. Neither time nor a different president will heal the wounds in our world; only we the people can. We are up for the task. Together we can create the future we envision of peace, justice and equality.

Imperialist War, Mass Murder, and Torture
Steven Argue, 12-09-2011 - 02:29
"Americans watched in horror as the World Trade Center collapsed. Yet it was a horror no different from what the U.S. government has done with it's bombing of civilian populations in Iraq, Yugoslavia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Korea. The U.S. bombings of just these countries, not to mention many other U.S. acts of war, murdered millions of civilians. Terror against civilians is never justified. Now the U.S. government is preparing to terror bomb Afghanistan…" -Liberation News, September 11, 2001

9/11: Who Really Benefited?
Captain America, 23-07-2011 - 20:06
Forget so-called conspiracy theories. Instead look at reality. Dare ask yourselves who actually seems to have benefited from the 9-11 calamity. In light of the debt ceiling debates and continuous politics as usual of Washington D.C., it is time for the American people and individual states of this federation to look at a troubling set of facts. There seems to have been “several” beneficiaries of 9-11 that don’t exactly fit the story line we were constantly fed by the propaganda machine and mainstream media as to how to connect the dots (which we were rhetorically asked to do).

Honoring World Refugees in the Rogue Valley
CRP Volunteer, 25-06-2011 - 19:04
Refugees from war or persecution suffer every day of the year, but one day each year is set aside to consider the plight of the tens of millions of displaced citizens worldwide.
The United Nations’ (UN) World Refugee Day is remembered on June 20 every year. The day is devoted to lift up consciousness of the state of affairs of expatriates all through the world. The day is a greeting to the strength and bravery of the world’s many refugees, forwarding to them our back up, support and admiration. There are just about 40 million people on the earth who have been expatriated from their homes due to hostility and maltreatment, and in the prospect this number will amplify due to more and more complex issues, such as the sprain on civilizations and economies from harsh transformations in climates.
Collateral Repair Project and Southern Oregon University United Nations Club will honor these refugees on Monday June 20th. The evening will include music by the Peace Choir Ensemble and the amazing youth group, Siskiyou Violins. Mary Madsen will talk about the work of Collateral Repair Project, a grass roots organization based in Medford, which provides vital assistance to the Iraqi refugees in Amman.
The local observance of World Refugee Day will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 20th, in the Arena Room (basement) of the Stevenson Union at Southern Oregon University in Ashland.

Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice urges Walmart to be transparent about its political and charitable giving. New political reports shows difference between what Walmart says and where it gives.
Medford, Oregon— In response to new research released this week by Walmart Watch about the company’s political contributions, elected officials have been asked to urge Walmart to be transparent about its political and charitable giving. A vote on how political contributions are disclosed is expected at today’s annual shareholders’ meeting.
This Medford Walmart warning has a history. State Representative Peter Buckley’s concerns about Walmart expanding with a South Medford supercenter go back to 2005 with this video warning

Bob Sexton, Director, Region 14 (Jackson & Josephine Counties), SEIU #503, 18-05-2011 - 23:17
Hello, fellow Southern Oregon SEIU/Labor/Social Justice activist!
If you're like me, you may be very frustrated that - much as you'd like to - you won't be able to attend SEIU's "Better Way Rally" in Salem this Friday. (Or maybe you ARE going? If so, please share this info anyway!) I'm MIGHTY glad to hear that SEIU is fielding TWO busses from the Southern Oregon area, but unfortunately, I won't be on them. However, I'm NOT going to let this opportunity pass me by without doing SOMETHING! I hope you'll spread this message to other coworkers, labor activists, and Oregon citizens who rely on the continuation of our services...
