Disturbing & Goulish: Saddam's Hangin' Frenzy

Mary Madsen, 30-12-2006 - 18:57

It is terribly disturbing and ghoulish to me, the wall to wall coverage that Sadaam Hussein's execution has engendered in the American media. I guess humankind has not progressed one footfall beyond the blood lust of the Roman Coliseum.

Should not America's politicians follow him to the gallows, every bit as accountable for the atrocities he committed, and which we enabled?

Pinochet, chief of the mass murderers, dies

Clase contra Clase, 12-12-2006 - 09:19

His death does not mark the end of Pinochetism. People are declaring themselves admirers of his work. Some more shamefully than others, they declare themselves his admirers, his followers, his heirs. They must pay for his entire legacy. The indictment for the crimes of Pinochet's dictatorship, which the human rights organizations have upheld valiantly and tirelessly for years, against his civilian and military collaborators, does not expire with the death of their leader.

Recognize our power! (with art)

in-the-heart, 05-12-2006 - 17:34

We can validate how we intuitively see. We can validate the powers we all have, the genius we all have; we all have a purpose for being here, and this is the right time. We each lean towards our purposes but others have been hooking our attentions.

Community Policing, "I know it when I see it"

compiled by Wes Brain, 22-11-2006 - 22:15

WE WANT COMMUNITY POLICING The City of Ashland's debate about "Community Policing" has been stymied when it comes to a definition. Just what is Community Policing?

Years ago when faced with defining pornography a very famous statement was made by one member of a very perplexed United States Supreme Court.

In 1964, Justice Potter Stewart tried to explain "hard-core" pornography, or what is obscene, by saying, "I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced . . . [b]ut I know it when I see it . . . "

Such is the way to define Community Policing. Back on May 30, 2003 prior to the beginning of a "Critical Mass" bicyle ride in Ashland police officer Mike Bianca laid out the police plan, and then he rode (mostly behind) the pack.

The Mark Foley scandal: Where is the crime? D

Fred Bergen, 12-10-2006 - 15:09

It is the capitalists and their parties who politicize sex. They claim to be defending the innocent and vulnerable, but anyone who has seen the pictures from Abu Ghraib prison knows that this government doesn't give a damn about sexual torture and molestation. Their real intent is to persecute anyone who strays outside the completely artificial bounds prescribed by the patriarchal, heterosexual bourgeois family, and in the process arrogate to themselves ever greater police powers.

CHOMSKY FEARS 9/11 DEBATE

by Fool me once... , 23-09-2006 - 19:08

When questioned about his stance on the 9/11 issue, Chomsky timidly regurgitates the official line by saying that the version we are force-fed by the mainstream media is "pretty much what happened. He claims that he hasn't seen any "credible evidence" to suggest otherwise

Archbishop Fiorenza, Assassination & 911-2B

Captain Eric H. May, 23-08-2006 - 14:57

Sergeant First Class Donald Buswell, a member of the mysterious cyber-intelligence group, Ghost Troop, recently became a worldwide figure of interest with the mainstream publication of the Army's reaction to his "911 heresey." He failed to uphold the official line of 19 Arabs with boxcutters doing the 911 attacks, and for that is now a target. There's a deeper, more sinister story of just how far the Army went to try to silence its best know dissident, and how little Catholic Church officials who knew of his predicament were willing to do to defend him.

The Hidden Draft in Our Schools

Captain Eric H. May, 22-08-2006 - 16:42

A former Army officer takes a look at the problem of gutless school leaders who let their students be turned into Bush League cannon fodder -- then offers some suggestions on how to change things.

The strange near-death of an active Army Ghost Troop seems more than suspicious, as the unit leader, Captain May, explains in this most revealing report to the Army Inspector General. administration terror plans exposes the double-dealing side of
