Does George F. Will Write Like a Weasel
Homeless Hank, 11-04-2012 - 23:09
Recently George Will wrote a column as to whom Mitt Romney might choose as his Vice President. Within the context of exaggerated hyperbole Will proposes Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan or Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. Thus this aging crank spent more time with blatant labeling of Obama (and the “entitlement state”) rather than making much of a case for either of his choices. If cartoonist and author Scott Adams wrote a book on politicians then George Will’s writing could easily inspire several chapters. What blowhard has written with more insinuation, illusion of logic, confusing sophistry, guilt by association, and whimsical vagary than this pretense of intellectual firepower? His political biases are almost always more prevalent than an ability to write clear and rational arguments.

Understanding Trade, our Local Economy and WALMART

THE SOUTHERN OREGON WALMART CAMPAIGN
As Walmart celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, we will paint the true story of Walmart and how they undermine our values and re-write the rules of our society. We have plenty of fodder here in Southern Oregon! Walmart continues to be prolific with stores in Grants Pass, Klamath Falls, Talent, Eagle Point and now being constructed is the monstrous new eyesore, the Walmart superstore going up near the South Medford interchange of Interstate-5.
NEW LOOK — OLD CAMPAIGN
Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice is itching to organize and involve area activists in taking a new look at an old campaign. We the 99% are ready to focus on the 1% who have stolen our democracy. There is no better place to start than Walmart. Look at this new website which shows us the Walmart — 1% connection:
http://www.jwj.org/blog/1-behind-walmart
SOJwJ is looking for a few hard-core-planners who are ready to roll up sleeves and get to work. We will creatively put together a big educational lesson plan for Southern Oregon: "Understanding Trade, our Local Economy and WALMART." Serious inquiries only!

Gains for Healthcare, Despite Obama
Steven Argue, 02-02-2012 - 03:14
The movement for single-payer achieved its first major victory in the United States in 2011 when the Governor of Vermont signed a single-payer bill into law. Under rules of the Obama-care bill, however, Vermont will not be able to enact the legislation until 2017, but Vermont is seeking waivers to enact the bill in 2014. Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer is also asking for a waiver from the federal government to set-up single payer health care in Montana.

SOPA Censorship = Corporatist Media Monopoly
SOPA Stifles Free Speech, 18-01-2012 - 22:07
The SOPA and PIPA Bills are attempts by the corporatists to control the dialogue under the guise of stopping "piracy". On the one hand the proponents of SOPA site the need for jobs and then pass a law that will silence free exchange of ideas that can lead to independent innovations. However, passing SOPA will place a gag order on free speech activists and only allow government approved corporatist propaganda to get time over the internet. VOTE NO ON SOPA!!

Time Protestor Person of the Year
Greg Grist, 31-12-2011 - 21:30
Even if editorial staff at Time magazine dubbed “the Protestor” as this year’s “Person-of-the-Year” doesn’t necessarily mean people at the Time, or it’s backstage managers, has garnered much appreciation or respect for “personhood” of the average outspoken dissenter. Likely they surveyed the landscape and realized the inevitable conclusion—2011 has had a lot of ubiquitous protestation around the world. So then an inevitable conclusion became refreshingly obvious—popular dissent is here all over as many status quos are being challenged.

A musical fundraiser, starring the Rogue Suspects, for the ‘Medford 6’ Occupiers, arrested 12-5-11, for seeking representation from their Congressman, Greg Walden
6:30 p.m. January 5th at Roscoe’s BBQ in Phoenix
Who: The Rogue Suspects, Pete Herzog and Patrick Tovatt for "Occupy Walden"
What: A fundraiser for the “Medford 6” to help cover fines and future actions
When: 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012
Where: Roscoe’s BBQ, 117 S. Main St., Phoenix, OR
Why: Because we, the 99%, are not being represented by Rep. Greg Walden, R-OR, the sitting U.S. 2nd District Congressman, and we need to expose the fact that he only listens to and votes for the 1%, the wealthiest Americans and those who run the largest corporations in the U.S.

Occupation with Conviction, Occupying Congressional Representative Greg Walden
* I N D E P E N D E N T * M E D I A *, 06-12-2011 - 14:59
Medford, Oregon 12/5/11-
Occupation of the Second Congressional District in Oregon was a smashing success Monday. On a foggy frozen day, the sun broke mid-morning in Medford and even though the temperature stayed in the thirties 99 percent folk like you and me gathered. We occupied downtown Vogel Plaza and we occupied our Congressional District office, too. We all showed up to ask one unified question: W H E R E ' S * W A L D E N ?
The photos were all shot at Monday's Where's Walden? Occupation Rally downtown in Vogel plaza, or 1/2 block away at Representative Greg Walden's Medford field office. Occupation of the office landed six arrests for trespass. Pictures show support activities on the sidewalk out front, while other shots are inside Walden's office where occupiers sat-in from 11am until after 6pm refusing to leave unless Congressman Walden agreed to start having regular public town hall meetings around the district, something that he refuses to do. The sit-in act of civil disobedience ended with the six arrests by the Medford City police. There are photos of each arrestee to end this photo memory.
It was an amazing day. Smashingly successful and peaceful too! Keep on reading to learn about other Walden Occupiers around Oregon's Second Congressional District. Eight were arrested in Bend about the very same time as the Medford Six.
