Ashland PAC for 1%'ers seeks to buy election

GOOD EYES Pam Vavra spotlights corporate plan, 07.10.2012 14:46

BEWARE * * WARNING ** BEWARE ** WARNING ** BEWARE ** WARNING

The Rogue Independent Media Center reposts the following warning sent to the ACA listserv [ashland-community-action] by Pam Vavra. See how money is being used to buy local elections in Ashland, Oregon. The pathway is called a political action committee and this one has been cleverly named: "Ashland Residents for a Great City Council"

Dear Fellow ACA-ers,

When construction and engineering companies along with big businesses invest heavily in city council elections, beware! "Ashland Residents for a Great City Council" is a PAC gathering big money to defeat incumbents John Stromberg for Mayor and Carol Voisin for City Councilor. They are also behind Regina Ayars' opponent. Maybe Ashland residents want their city to be run by these folks:

Bill Heimann, Director
Susan Wilson, Treasurer
Major Contributors:
Brian Gorham
Jeff Rinkoff
Coming Attractions Theaters
Darrell A Boldt
Adroit Construction Company Inc.
Robert W Mayers
Gold and Gems
Chuck Butler
Sidney DeBoer
Dunagan Engineering Inc. and Ashland Wine Cellar
Gerald Taylor
Jo W French

but I know I don't! These days, it's not enough to know the candidates. Voters need to know who's pulling their strings and most importantly, who's got their purse strings.

Yours,
Pam
