A large audience gathered earlier this month (June) in Medford to enjoy a supper of Iranian and other Middle Eastern food prepared by members of Citizens for Peace and Justice, and to hear a presentation entitled, "Manufacturing Enemies: Are we being lied into another Mideast War?", about the efforts of our country and Israel to destabilize the leadership of the country of Iran.

Herb Rothschild, Chair of Peace House, and Michael Neimann, Professor of International Studies at SOU, spoke to an audience of more than 50 people about the scientific and technical facts regarding Iran's uranium enrichment efforts, and the political threats and economic sanctions by the US and Israel in their efforts to attack and destabilize the government of Iran.
The speakers presented some of the details regarding the uranium enrichment process underway in Iran, illustrating how enormously complicated and difficult a task it is, and how it was the target of sabotage from a computer virus launched by the US and Israel that now appears to have gotten out of control and is infecting non-target communications and other computer controlled systems throughout the Middle East, and which may be now being used against us. The US and Israel, according to the speakers, are accused of using a terrorist organization, the MEK, to assassinate Iranian scientists by attaching bombs to their personal vehicles, and killing them and their families in a further effort to intimidate and disrupt Iran's nuclear program.
The speakers presented sections of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty to illustrate why Iran claims it has the right to enrich and develop nuclear material for peaceful purposes (medical isotopes and nuclear energy), and to illustrate how the US (in particular) and Russia do not appear to be living up to their obligations under the same treaty to continue to reduce their enormous stockpiles of tens of thousands of nuclear missiles. Following the talk, the audience joined in with questions and comments, many expressing bewilderment at why the United States is pursuing such an unjust and potentially disastrous policy.
Those interested in more gaining more information on the Iranian nuclear subject were referred to the website: www.globalresearch.org for a May 27 article by Niles Bowie, and invited to attend the August 7th CPJ Free Film Night at Lidgate Hall 1801 East Jackson St, Medford, where the film, "The Strangest Dream", about Joseph Rotblatt and the privately sponsored Pugwash Conferences to end nuclear proliferation:
