The thought that green and white light is the most efficient is completely wrong. Any plant has some green coloring matter known as chlorophyll. The chlorophyll reflects green light away hence it will not provide the plants with enough energy for photosynthesis.

Red light sources are widely used when it comes to the growing of fruits and flowers. This color makes a plant assume that it is an autumn season. It is during this season that most vegetation produce flowers and fruits. Hence when a plant is exposed to this type of light for a long time it automatically starts doing the same.
