Grandmothers and Friends in Green are concerned that the purity of the
Creek will be despoiled by the proposed Mt. Ashland Ski Area Expansion.
The proposed ski expansion would clearcut seventy acres (equivalent to
70 football fields) in the City's municipal watershed.

GRANDMOTHERS AND FRIENDS IN GREEN TO HONOR ASHLAND CREEK

On Sunday, May 2nd, from 2 to 3 pm, Grandmothers and Friends in Green
will honor Ashland Creek at a ceremony in Lithia Park, just upstream from
the Lithia Park bandshell.

Grandmothers and Friends in Green plan to honor Ashland Creek for
the clean, pure water that it provides the citizens of Ashland.

The Grandmothers and Friends in Green are also concerned that the Park's
current pesticide policy will despoil the creek downstream by spraying pesticides
too close to the creek.

The ceremony will consist of the public standing silently for 30 minutes
and will also include a chance for those present to share their wishes to
preserve Ashland Creek from irreparable sedimentation upstream and from
pesticide contamination downstream.

The ceremony is open to the public.
