Ashland CarShare is a grassroots, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the environmental integrity of local and global communities by promoting car sharing and other healthy transportation choices. We are the smallest car sharing organization in existence, yet in our first year, we have procured three hybrid vehicles and have maintained a steady media presence. We have 70 members, and are growing. (

Both Ashland and Talent have joined around this great concept. There are currently two vehicle locations in Ashland, and one in Talent. Our success means less congestion, more use of alternative transportation, and a greater sense of community. For many, Ashland represents a cultural, artistic and environmental focus lauded by other communities. Ashland CarShare by its very nature represents those values.
Our members include two car families, students, and local businesses (for which we have special deals). The way it works is simple. A reservation is made by phone or internet. Using blink technology, the car is unlocked as the customer places their membership key fob on a small card reader mounted on the windshield, tracking time and mileage. A number of cars are at the member's disposal and payment is due only for actual use. Gas, maintenance and premium insurance are included. With this system, members save money, help the environment, and improve Ashland's quality of life.
