Get to Know the Clean Water Act
What: The Rogue Riverkeeper program of the Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center is hosting a primer on the Clean Water Act. This is a free event that will outline the framework of this vital federal law and explain how community members can activate to ensure swimmable, drinkable and fishable public waters. There will be a brief overview KS Wild's Rogue Riverkeeper program, including monitoring of the Clean Water Act, mining oversight and the Liquefied Natural Gas proposal in southwest Oregon.
When: Wednesday, December 2nd at 7pm
Where: Ashland Public Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd
Who: Rogue Riverkeeper keeps an eagle eye on river polluters, helps enforce water laws, and works to protect and restore water quality and native fish populations in the Rogue Basin.
Why: The Clean Water Act, in and of itself, doesn’t ensure clean water. It depends on an informed, engaged and committed community. When people don’t speak up and organize for clean water, it cannot be guaranteed. The Rogue Basin is one of the fastest growing regions in the state and the watershed is listed as water quality impaired for temperature, bacteria and other parameters. This free event will let the public know how they can help implement a cornerstone environmental law in the Rogue Basin.
