HEALTH CARE REFORM MONDAYS: 11/2/09-REGENCE, Medford// 11/9-Medford Library
No one should die because they don’t have health care!
Join us for the Day of the Dead at Regence on Monday, November 2
44,789 Americans die every year because they don’t have health insurance.
558 of them are Oregonians.
Oregon insurers refuse to sell insurance to one out of every four people.
Insurers have 1,796 lobbyists on Capitol Hill; they’re blanketing the country with deceptive TV ads and just funded two high-profile “reports” to distort the President’s health care reform plan.
We’ve had enough!
Join us on the Day of the Dead
Monday, November 2, 2009
Noon to 1 P.M.
Regence- 2057 Commerce in Medford (Left into COSTCO at Cardinal, immediate right on Citation, left on Commerce)
We are going to peacefully honor those who have died because they didn’t have health care by dressing in black, having a Day of the Dead procession and a brief ceremony at Regence. People are encouraged to bring offerings (photos, memorabilia, letters to Regence…) for the altar. The Reverend Kurt Katzmar of the Medford United Church of Christ will lead the procession and ceremony.
We are insisting that Regence should let us use their lobby because they decide whether we live or die every day. They are also standing in the way of real health care reform, including a public option, that would prevent more deaths.
We’re ready for the final push!
Meeting/rally on Monday, November 9th, 6-8 pm, Medford Library
The House and Senate are finishing their respective bills in preparation for the floor debate in both chambers. We may be only 8 weeks away from achieving our goal: national legislation that will get us on the path to quality, affordable health care for everyone in this country. This will be a meeting/rally to get our captains, leaders and members fueled with the information, campaign plan and energy for the stretch- run in this historic effort.
Speakers will include John Forsyth, M.D., who has spent the last two years educating and advocating for health care reform in the Rogue Valley, and Brenda Johnson, the Executive Director of La Clinica del Valle.
