Ashland Commuter Challenge starts Tomorrow!

Car Free Day Committee, 13.09.2009 00:00

Participate in the second annual Commuter Challenge and celebrate at Car Free Day!

Greetings conscious commuters, It’s time for the second annual Ashland Commuter Challenge!

Remember last year, when we logged 3745 sustainable miles using any method other than the driver-only car? Well now’s the time to top that for a second year with the 2009 Ashland Commuter Challenge! Think we can do it? We sure can.

Instructions

1. Start logging your miles the morning of Saturday, September 12. Use any mode of transportation other than driving a car by yourself: walk, ride your bike, skateboard, unicycle, scooter, or rollerblade; ride the RVTD bus; carpool or rideshare, or your choice.

2. Continue doing this until the evening of Friday, Sept. 25.

3. Use the attached tally sheet to track your miles (We'll forward tally sheets closer to the event!). Email your totals to  ashlandcommuterchallenge09@gmail.com, fax them to 541.773.2877, or drop them by Ashland Cycle Sport, 191 Oak St.

That's about it.

You can participate as a team, an individual, or with friends, family and/or coworkers: write down the names of who participated and the miles they logged or enter your total miles as a team. Write down how they did it, if you really want to help. Or just turn in the miles.

The Ashland Commuter Challenge coincides with RVTD’s Try Transit Week, Sept. 18-25, 2009. See below for the entire week’s events or visit online @ www.rvtd.org! And be sure to join us for the annual Ashland International Car Free Day celebration located on Oak Street between E. Main and Lithia Way on Tuesday, Sept. 22 (4-7 p.m.). RVTD will present this year’s Transportation Hero Award and Bicycle Friendly Business Award at the event!!

Restatement of the above:

The Ashland Commuter Challenge is easy as 1-2-3:
