Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice (SOJwJ) calls upon the Rogue Valley Community to rally behind Eagle Point School District #9's employees, its certified teachers and classified staff. WHAT: RALLY to Support Teachers & Staff at Eagle Point School District #9
WHEN: Monday, Oct. 6, 4:00 p.m. continuing until late, possibly 10:00PM (bring chairs, warm clothing, umbrellas, canopies, heaters, etc.)
WHERE: At the corner of Royal and Main in downtown Eagle Point. (Take the Main entrance to Eagle Point at the Walmart intersection on Hwy, 62. Stay on Main street until you reach the intersection of Royal and Main St. Turn left and there you are. You won't be able to miss us.)
FOOD: Pizza, beverages and snacks will be provided.

ABOUT EAGLE POINT SCHOOL DISTRICT #9
The Eagle Point School District #9, serves the White City, Eagle Point, Shady Cove and Trail communities. The Eagle Point Education Association includes both certified teachers and classified staff, over 400 employees. This is not just teachers, but also bus drivers, food service workers, office staff, maintenance workers, and instructional assistants. The worker's contract covers all of these employees. SOME NEGOTIATION DETAILS
We are in mediation and nearly at the end. There has been nearly no movement from the school district. They are offering a 2% pay increase and $20 increase for the health insurance payment. Employees are asking for a 2% plus a CPI (cost of living) increase and an increase to cover the cost of health insurance. This would put the teachers & staff in line with other school districts in the area. School District administrators were offered a 7% increase. Workers have narrowed the contract issues to 7 which include changes needed to address problems experienced for the past 3 years with current contract language. One issue addresses using security video surveillance camera tapes to evaluate employees. The District now wants employees to roll over their contract with no changes for the next 3 years, even after originally offering to roll it over for 1 year.
