CPJ Film Nite series resumes with Pete Seeger tribute documentary

Pete Seeger is an American icon, not only as a folksinger who has brought joy to audiences for the last seven decades, but as one of the strongest activists this country has known for peace and justice.

Join us to watch the first part of Pete Seeger: The Power of Song, a film produced by Jim Brown for the PBS-TV series American Masters at 7 pm Thursday, Sept. 4th, in Lidgate Hall at the Medford Congregational United Church of Christ, 1801 E. Jackson St. We’ll sing along to the tunes like, “If I Had a Hammer,” “Turn, Turn, Turn” and “Where Have All the Flowers Gone.” And we’ll discuss the film and the issues raised, like why Seeger was targeted by the House Un-American Activities Committee and his courageous response.
