For the last few years when we observe May Day I have either taken vacation or sick leave from my Southern Oregon University job and not gone to work. It is the thing to do. That record is but a small part of my employment file with Human Services at SOU. They laid me off from providing health and safety servics to the entire sou community. Life goes on.
This year I am now employed again, a 10 hr. a week employee of our local Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice. On MAY DAY! I plan on working and will be doing the very same work as when i skipped out from my job at SOU one way of the other on previous May Days. Is that weird or what? I acutally look forward to putting in a little "overtime" on May Day, the day that most of the world knows as International Workers Day. How things change!
Join us on May Day at 4 pm at Alba Park for a march and rally in downtown Medford, Oregon to support our immigrants.

Illegal aliens 01.05.2008 - 08:30 Get it right, it's not about immigrant rights, it's about ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT rights. ...It's a bunch of leftist /socialist traitors marching in our streets demanding that people who broke our immigration laws by breaking in to our country receive citizenship. Newsflash!...We have immigration laws just like every other country does, and there is nothing wrong with us wanting them enforced. Debbie> Maybe... 01.05.2008 - 15:35 Maybe if the United States did not keep pushing the free trade agreements on other countries maybe there would not be so many undocumented workers coming to the United States. They need to work and provide for their families just like everyone else and due to the free trade agreements that congress has passed it has made it hard for people living in those countries to make a living and even survive. loudmouth> Oh Debbie... You're the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT !! 01.05.2008 - 17:08 Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, How far back can you see? Four years? (when gas was $1.89). Sixty years? (when Chiloquin was Indian Territory). Two hundred years? (when Mexicans [or their aboriginal brethren] were the lawful inhabitants of the place you now call home) ?? Lemme tell you something, you short-sighted, sanctimonious, ignorant, so-called patriot... You're the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT !! Undoubtedly, you are standing on ground that your (holier that holy) government signed a lawful treaty to honor for-EVER, and within a very short period of time chose to dishonor. Think of all the treaties your government broke when convenience or money got in the way. How can you wrap yourself in their flag? They're dirty and everyone knows it. It would be one thing if you wanted to quietly trespass here. No one would raise a fuss, but but when you come around yappin and yellin like you OWN THE PLACE, well - I have to take exception to that. You're the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT, Debbie. Go home.
