KSKQ Holds Radio Workshop

Independent Media Week - 2008, 13.04.2008 15:15

INDEPENDENT MEDIA WEEK 2008

Excited volunteers showed up today (April 13th, 2008) at the KSKQ studio in Ashland, Oregon. As part of Independent Media Week, we held a skill-share session on how to make radio. While Jason was busy showing off the studio, Terry was grabbing producers for station community service announcements (CSAs).

KSKQ's radio workshop kicked off Ashland's 4th annual Independent Media Week.

Local media activist Liisa Wale said, "I got a lot out of the media workshop and how to do a show within the studio."

Terry, who helped with the CSAs, said, "I like to hear peoples' different voices while I'm listening to the radio that are the actual listeners and the content providers."

KSKQ Station Manager Jason Houk is excited to report, "We have two new shows that are committed."

"I learned many little things about putting together a radio show, for example that I can play my own music without having to worry about licensing fees," said a potential new producer, Michael.

Folks that are interested can visit our website at  http://www.KSKQ.org or come down to the studio, 330 E. Hersey St. #2 in Ashland.

Carson Bench helped out big time

Great report except Carson Bench should be included. The skills share workshop started off with Carson giving an overview of KSKQ. In an efficient manner he layed things out for folks to learn "how to make radio happen." Thanks, Carson!

We actually posted this article pretty quickly as the second part of our workshop, on how to post to Rogue IMC. We really should have given Carson the respect he deserves for his part on Sunday. Apologies.
