PEACE RALLY AND FILM SLATED, Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Dear Friends:

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED. WE MUST STOP THIS OCCUPATION, AND REVERSE THE MEDIA-IMPOSED SILENCE ABOUT THE IRAQ VETERANS AGAINST THE WAR HEARINGS. There has never been anyone but you who could turn this death and destruction around, and give Peace a chance.

Please come to the gathering for Peace, Thursday, March 27th, 2008, in front of the Josephine County courthouse at 500 NW 6th Street in Grants Pass, at 4:30 pm. Help show our community we support human dignity and reason, and NOT the policies that are killing our troops, our country, our economy, and our children's future. In Grants Pass, we have only one chance per month to do this in unison, and show solidarity and courage to stand for the truth -- war is not the answer.

The Peace stand focuses this month on the near complete news blackout by the U.S. corporate media of the historic news event called “Winter Soldier.” The nationwide Iraq veterans group, Iraq Veterans Against the War, recently appeared in Washington DC for four days and gave testimony at hearings about what is really happening in Iraq. They urged our government to 'BRING OUR TROOPS HOME NOW'. These soldiers’ testimony could well have begun a reversal of the Iraq occupation had major media been dependable. But while major broadcast networks carried John McCain and Dick Cheney’s ill-informed observations on Iraq, the first hand testimony and hearings by our own Iraq and Afghanistan veterans about the atrocities and horrors of war went mostly unreported.

Following the courthouse gathering, come join in an open dialogue about effective ways to work for Peace, and see a short video clip of these Winter Soldiers’ testimony. This will be at 5:30 pm across the street from the courthouse, behind Newman United Methodist Church, at 'B' and 7th Street. Tea, coffee, and cookies will be provided.

See you Thursday. --Hal
