Water: Report on League Meeting
Pure Public Water for All, 20.03.2008 13:10
I missed this meeting due to work, but just got a report back. At the meeting, a question was asked about water privatization. The League Response was that the topic could not be discussed at the meeting because the topic was too controversial. Apparently those were the ground rules............
This is a disservice by the League. To ignore the threat of the privatization of waters from Butte Falls by one bottler to Northern California where Nestles has its sites set, is so narrow-sighted as to make the Ashland League's meeting irrelevant.
The bottled water industry is a local problem. The outrage at the way the multinationals have stolen water from people across the globe, and convinced people all over America to buy bottled water more than any other non-alcoholic drink, is alive and well in Ashland, so let's talk about it.
