Bring your books, etc. to donate and share with the rest of the community. Thus far, we have had an outstanding response. GBT is located in an old church, with plenty of space to socialize, get on the net, and browse our thousands of books. Unlike the library, there are no late fees, due dates, or SSSHHHH! Quiet! Plenty of parking, restrooms, bottled water, and fun! Generally patterned after the Rogue Book Exchange in Medford and the Rogue Valley Media Exchange in Ashland.
Surely, Grants Book Trade is the best and the funnest! We have the largest bulletin board in town, so come by and post your business card or flier and get a book or two.
Soon we will be hosting events, talks, open mic, etc. Check the website and event calendar.
See you soon!

GBT Closed for now 18.11.2008 - 01:57 Hi everyone, unfortunately, GBT had to close due to zoning issues in Grants Pass, and complaints filed by other book sellers ..."they're giving away free books and it will hurt our business... shut it down!" And so, a puny little town chose to close down the free book trade. Churches are open for events, giving away free food, and have lending libraries. There were no complaints from the local neighborhood. Actually, the neighbors loved the place. Kids would come over after school and play, shelve books, and we even had an Easter egg hunt. Open Mic went on for several weeks, we had a "house band" and many regular visitors. In June, GBT hosted a First Friday with art, music, and food. It was really great. The business had a great future. The city of Grants Pass dealt GBT a totally rotten deal. This city is completely anti-business, anti-books, and most importantly, anti-progress. Leslie> |
