Ter'rence for Larry M..., 11.12.2007 23:42
The Gathering Days At The Bellview Grange, in collaboration with KSKQ, Red Earth Descendants, WebSpirit, and Peace Village Festival, is hosting The Gathering Days from Winter Solstice through Christmas Day. The Gathering Days provides a place for the community to come together over the holidays. There will be 4 days of potlucks and activities from Saturday, December 22nd through Tuesday, December 25th, all held at the Bellview Grange at 1050 Tollman Creek Rd., in Ashland
Sat, Dec 22 ~ Red Earth Descendants is holding their Native Story Telling event on the Solstice at the Grange, from 10 am until about 10pm. The day will begin with a women's circle at 10 a.m. and Storytelling starting at Noon. There will be a break for a potluck dinner at 4:30 p.m., with an evening session of stories and Native teachings at 6 p.m. This is a free event and everyone is welcome.
Sun, Dec 23 ~ Doors open at 4pm for tea and coffee. Potluck Dinner from 5pm-7pm.
Holiday Party 8pm – 11pm with Frankie Hernandez Band playing some very danceable music: Soul, Funk, Latin, Reggae, and more. If you are not familiar with them, they are awesome! They were the closing band at Peace Village Festival, last Summer, on Sunday night . Frankie himself plays trumpet and guitar. The dance party is a fundraiser for the Bellview Grange and for Peace Village Festival, and is the only paid event during the Gathering Days - $10 suggested admission, everyone welcome, no one turned away, kids free, work trade at 2 (or more) hours in exchange for admission. The money that the Grange receives from this event will help offset the cost of putting on the Gathering Days. Peace Village Festival's silent auction, which started a few weeks ago at Give Peace a Dance, will have its grand finale at this event. Come dance and celebrate and pick up some awesome holiday gifts at the silent auction!

Help needed
Please contact Didar or Larry to volunteer for any of these opportunities

* Decorating the Grange: Friday, Dec 21st at 4pm. Bring freshly cut fir, cedar, and holly boughs and other beautiful greenery (if you can), White Christmas lights (icicle and single strands); other non-religious ornamentation you might want to share
* Cleanup: each night, washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, cleaning kitchen, tables, bathrooms, etc.........
* We would love for these events to be “kid friendly.” If you would like to put some energy into that by coming with a kid activity or simply making yourself available for part of the evening to be with kids who show up, that would be great! And we encourage everyone who comes with children to put some time and energy into sharing with the children. The children’s area will probably be at the back of the dining hall area by the couches and chairs.
Other needs:
* If you are into buying and preparing a turkey (or getting one donated) for the potlucks on the 24th and the 25th, that would be grand... or maybe a vegan alternative? We would like to have several large “main dish” type items at each of the potlucks, to anchor the meals.
* White Christmas lights (icicle and single strands)
* Large Stainless Steel Coffee Makers and Tea Urns
Excitement!
Wow! The Gathering Days are going to be awesome! What a great opportunity for us to come together as community and to get to know each other better. Please join in and be a part of these gatherings. And be sure to let your friends and family know about the Gathering Days and our Holiday Dance Party benefit.
Wishing you and yours all the blessings of the season,
