NASU/RED Film Festival
November 19 & 26th 5-9pm
SOU Stevenson Union, downstairs in the basement "Arena."
Free

The last two Mondays of November (Nov. 19 and 26) will be the
culmination of the NASU/RED Film Festival to celebrate Native American
Heritage month. We'd like to make a special note that THIS coming
Monday, Nov. 19, will be devoted to some NASU students sharing their
history and work on the Klamath River dam crisis and how it deeply
affects their tribes (Karuk, Hupa, Yurok and Klamath). They will show
films and host discussion on how this crisis is a cultural issue for
their tribes. This is a rare opportunity to hear and see our next
generation of activism in action through these NASU/SOU students.
PLEASE come and support! They have several wonderful films to show,
created by Native people devoted to this important and crucial issue.
Films will include:

"Salmon on the Backs of Buffalo" by the Karuk, Mid-Klamath Watershed
Council, Salmon Restoration Council and the Klamath Forest Alliance.

"Two Rivers" by Erica Chase, Kayla Carpenter and Tasha Norton--an
award winner interviewing different tribal members about the Klamath
issue.

Several shorts featuring tribal issues and much HUMOR!

"Karuk Weaving," entirely in the Karuk language, currently at the
Native American Film Festival in San Francisco.

The following Monday, November 26, will feature some Elders speaking
and more films. Both evenings begin at 5 p.m. and will end around 9
p.m. in the SOU Stevenson Union, downstairs in the basement "Arena."
Popcorn and drinks are available. This is a free event with donations
encouraged as we are fundraising for our next RED event, the
Storytelling Conference (December 22) as well as helping EarthTeach
Forest Park raise funds for their park vehicle.
