The Astonishing World of Reverse Speech by Australian David John Oates
Wednesday, November 7th 7-9pm SOU’s Stevenson Union, Rogue River Room,
1250 Siskiyou Blvd in Ashland Admission $5.

You've heard David on national talk radio shows for 15 years, and now you can hear him in person presenting scores of examples of speech reversals of the biggest newsmakers of our times. Find out how we are simultaneously speaking to each other both forward AND backward. Find out why psychologists and psychiatrists have praised this as the greatest tool they've ever seen. Find out why David Oates was asked to give U.S. intelligence agencies a private three-day briefing on Reverse Speech and why it is probably used routinely by these agencies today.

The pioneer and 20 year veteran of this field, Australian David John Oates, describes Reverse Speech as another form of human communication. He states that language is bi-level, forward and reverse. As the human brain constructs the sounds of speech, it forms those sounds in such a way that two messages are delivered simultaneously. One forwards, which is the conscious mind speaking, and the other in reverse, which is the unconscious mind speaking.

Peace House Movie Night: "The Fourth World War" Monday, November 12th Potluck – 6pm; Film – 7pm 543 S. Mountain; Ashland, Oregon

Shot on five continents over more than two years, The Fourth World War
writes a new chapter in history, setting down the untold story of the
citizen movements that have sprung up all over the planet. The film was
produced through a global network of independent media and activist
groups, offering convincing proof that the term “anti-globalization
movement” is a misnomer. It was filmed simultaneously on the front lines of
conflicts in Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Palestine, Korea, Afghanistan and
Iraq, as well as during the summit meeting protests in Seattle, Genoa and
Quebec City.

The Fourth World War contrasts the war without end—a global conflict, one
that shatters and divides—with the inspiring struggles of men and women who
resist oppression, injustice and violence. For more info contact Liisa at  l_wale@yahoo.com or go to  http://www.bignoisefilms.com

RED / NASU Native Film Fest Nov 12, 19, & 26 5-9pm SU Basement
Red Earth Descendants (RED) and the Native American Student Union (NASU) of Southern Oregon University will host a Film Festival each Monday night in the month of November 5, 12, 19 and 26 to celebrate Native American Heritage Month. Films highlighting indigenous issues will be shown, as well as films directed, produced and created by Native filmmakers. Our goal is to celebrate the art of film-making by Native people and to bring awareness to issues including land use disputes on tribal lands, social/economic problems facing the Native population and political actions by Native people to gain a voice in a country where indigenous peoples have fought genocide, poverty and continual removal from their homelands since the invasion of European people on their land. Cultural survival is still an uphill battle for many Native American tribes, and thus, the fight to bring awareness to the American public is crucial.

We invite you to view these films with us, be part of our discussion, open your heart in a way to see your home through indigenous eyes, celebrate and grow to understand our Native American heritage with local people in the community working to make change and bring awareness.

Films scheduled will include (but not necessarily be limited to) the following:

1. WATERBUSTERS, a Lakota environmental story.
2. ALCATRAZ IS NOT AN ISLAND, a story of the Alcatraz. . .
3. AS LONG AS THE RIVERS FLOW: THE GRASSY NARROWS BLOCKADE STORY, an environmental land dispute between Canadian tribal people and Weyerhaeuser logging their land.
4. POW WOW DREAMS, a fun and beautiful story of three sisters traveling the Pow Wow trail, growing up together and moving on as young women.
5. 3:52, a short film starring America Ferrerra of "Ugly Betty" and "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" as a young Native alcoholic as she takes a spiritual journey toward recovery.
6. One or two SHORT FILMS written, produced and directed by Native American film students at U.S.C..
7. A few films addressing the Klamath River salmon issues in the Klamath Basin and how the loss of salmon affect the Hoopa, Karuk, Yurok and Klamath Tribes.

And then again, we may pull out a few film surprises in the mix.
Film Festival will take place Monday nights, 5-9 p.m. in the Stevenson Union Arena (downstairs in the basement of the SU), November 5, 12, 19 and 26. We will serve popcorn and other treats and beverages.
