Joe Dully, 03.10.2007 19:11

Show support for Aung San Suu Kyi, the Monks and the people in Burma, Saturday 6TH OCTOBER 2007, Time: 12 NOON in every major city across the world (and wherever you may be).

Action:

Scattering flower petals from a bridge into a river (the bridge is to symbolize the desire for reconciliation, the petals the lives of the Burmese people currently at risk). Wear a red shirt, hat or scarf. Take photos for posting on the web.

Aim:

To draw attention to the continued oppression of the Burmese people and to keep/build the pressure on national governments and the UNSC to do all that they can to alleviate that suffering.

Objectives:

Substantial national and international media coverage focussed on a day of demonstrations in as many capitals as possible. Clear messages delivered to national governments and the UNSC that they must do all they can to end the suffering of the people of Burma. Clear messages to Burmese, Chinese, Indian, Russia and European governments that the people of the world are watching their actions.

Messages:

The UN Security Council must act now to alleviate the crisis.
The International Community and governments must do more to keep the pressure on until the military crackdown ends and all political prisoners are released. The people of the world stand with the people of Burma.
