f you saw the opening concert at the Britt this June 7, you saw Michael Franti & Spearhead. Relive that experience and join us Thursday night!
"I Know I'm Not Alone: A Musician's Search for the Human Cost of War," a film featuring rock star Michael Franti, will be shown. This 2006 film chronicles Franti's travels to war zones in Iraq, Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. The film features a compelling sound track with songs from Franti’s popular Yell Fire CD. With its guerrilla-style footage captured in active war zones, the documentary is unlike the many academic and politically driven pieces of the marketplace. Instead it offers the audience a chance to hear the voice of everyday people living, creating and surviving under the harsh conditions of war and occupation. Franti and his band appeared at the Britt Festivals this summer and were well received by a large and enthusiastic audience.
CPJ holds its Film Night on the first Thursday of each month at 7 pm in Lidgate Hall at the Medford Congregational United Church of Christ, 1801 East Jackson St., Medford, OR. (Go East on Jackson past Hedrick Middle School, then look for the church parking lot entrance on the left at the "Roots & Wings" sign.)
