STAND FOR PEACE in Grants Pass, Oregon Aug 23

FROM: HAL ANTHONY, 20.08.2007 19:37

STAND FOR PEACE

Thursday, August 23, 4:30 pm
Josephine County courthouse
500 NW Sixth Street, Grants Pass, Oregon

Greetings All:

Liberals and conservatives used to have some solid, moral common ground. Real conservatives used to stand for fiscal responsibility, protection of our individual rights under the Constitution and Bill of Rights, conserving the environment, and avoidance of foreign military conflict. And real liberals used to walk their talk about Peace, social justice, and environmental health -- at their work, in the marketplace, and on the streets. These are the type of people who come to our Stand for Peace.

Your presence makes a huge difference in helping to end the occupation of Iraq and the treason of those who exploited 9/11 for corporate profits and deceived us into war. We hope to see you at 4:30 pm, this Thursday, August 23, 2007 for our fourth Thursday's Stand for Peace, in front of the Josephine County courthouse, 500 NW Sixth Street, Grants Pass. Your Peace, our Peace, is seriously dependant on our showing support of it. The tone and willingness to stand and show what we believe in speaks louder than words.

Backbone UP for PEACE
Backbone UP for PEACE

Among U.S. troops, I wonder which three men and women will have their life sacrificed today in Iraq to fill our 92.9 body bags-per-month average for 2007? Which three will die tomorrow? Who among the nearly 100 young men and women this month will not come home, ever, because our country is invading other countries and toppling their governments, merely to benefit itself. Our founding fathers were very clear to warn us against this kind of imperialism that is just simply wrong for America or any nation -- even if we could undo over 2,000 years of Mideast infighting; even if we weren't in Iraq primarily for oil; and even if we could militarily pacify the country and put a pro-American government in place.

Come stand with us united for Peace and for the safe, immediate return of our troops and in opposition to this administration's continuing support for torture, militarism, unbridled Executive power and the squandering of our troops and other national resources.

There will be a 1/2 hour video segment in Room 157 of the courthouse after our Stand for Peace, showing excerpts from Beyond Treason, which documents proof about the US governments long history of conducting military experiments on involuntary civilians and troops. Dialogue, coffee, tea and cookies will flow like the Rogue! See you at 4:30 pm.
