Blood On The Laundromat Floor

Vegan1forpeace, 16.03.2007 19:34

Violence at the downtown Ashland laundromat between officers of the Ashland Police Department and a target of arrest. Looking for accounts of what happened from witnesses.

Witnesses talk about a pool of blood on the floor of the downtown laundromat after a fight between Ashland Police officers and a target of arrest - one witness says the name of the target of arrest was named "Micky" - in the afternoon of Thursday, March 15th. So far I haven't been able to find a witness who saw the actual fight, but one person said he saw some older people bawling out the police for being excessive. The Tidings, drawing from APD reports, as I understand it, says:

"Thursday 3:30 p.m. — Police arrested a 40 year old Talent man, for resisting arrest, escape and assault on a public safety officer at the East Main Street Laundromat. According to police reports, the man struck an officer while they placing him into custody for a municipal court warrant. Police "wrestled the man to the floor" and he received a laceration between his eyes and was taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center."

I'm not saying that the APD officers did anything wrong - in fact one witness who saw "Micky" before the fight said he seemed drunk or high on something - but this kind of thing needs to be looked at by the community to be sure....
