Rally: Military Commissions Act of 2006

WEDNESDAY 12/06 @ NOON - ASHLAND PLAZA, 05.12.2006 17:55

Due to bad weather last Tuesday, the informational rally about the Military Commissions Act of 2006 was postponed. Please join us this tomorrow.

On Wednesday December 6th,  2006 SOU students group in the class "Spirituality and Politics," will be holding an informational rally regarding the Military Commission Act of 2006, a recent piece of legislation passed by the Republican controlled congress and presidential administration.  This act denies every American certain civil liberties that our founding fathers fought so vigorously to establish and protect for all United States Citizens.  This event will be held in the downtown Ashland Plaza from 12:00 to 2:00 pm, and will include multiple speakers, live music, and plenty of friendly open people eager to share their knowledge and listen to the comments and suggestions of all that wish to participate.  We look forward to seeing everyone there.

2.) CONTACT your local Congress people and let them know how you feel about issues, after all it is their duty to speak for US!  Search the web; all the Congress members’ mail and email addresses are online there for you to contact them through.

3.) SUPPORT organizations like Amnesty, ACLU, Witnesstorture.org, ActAgainsttorture.org, and many others that are fighting every day to protect every HUMANS rights.

4.) SPEAK to your friends, family, local media, and co-workers about the issues.  Let them know what is going on in their country and get them interested.  Spread the word.
