Snow Shoe the Biscuit Burn Saturday

Tim, 27.01.2004 13:00

This Saturday we will carpool from Evos Java House in Ashland at 9am and from the Selma Market at 10am. We will snow shoe thru areas slated to be cut as part of a logging give away in the Biscuit Wildfire Area of the Rogue-Kalmiopsis.

Biscuit Wildfire Hikes

Guided Hikes for All Ages in the Wild Forests
of the Rogue-Kalmiopsis

Hiking a wild forest in its second year of natural recovery from fire is a thrilling experience. No photograph or video can recreate a walk through the natural mosaic of burned, lightly burned and unburned forest.

The half-million acre Biscuit Wildfire perimeter includes amazing landscapes and diversity. It has now become the rarest of ecosystem types: naturally regenerating forest unaltered by salvage logging.

Come see this incredible bioregion while you can because the Federal government has just announced its plans to replace this wild ecosystem with the largest timber sale in modern history.

We carpool from Evos Coffeehouse next door to the Ashland Public Library every Saturday morning, leaving at 9am and returning around 6pm. Bring water, warm clothes, rain gear, hiking boots and lunch. January 31 and February 21 hikes only bring snowshoes. Cameras and video cameras encouraged!
