citizen vs corporation

A "Take Back the Media" workshop at SOU educates about citizens sovereign authority over corporations.

Monday evening, at Southern Oregon University, I attended a very informative (not boring), interactive "Take Back our Media from Corporations" workshop presented by Democracy Unlimited of Humboldt County (www.monitor.net/duhc). As I left, I picked up a little booklet called "Taking Care of Business: Citizenship and the Charter of Incorporation" which pinpoints the gist of the workshop.

We, the people, still have the sovereign authority over the corporation even though, because of actions of corrupt judges, courts, and legislatures, it is difficult to recognize.

The booklet gave concise mini-bytes of corporate histories, and corporate case law, encouraged us to read the Constitution/Bill of Rights, our state's constitution and charter, and to educate ourselves on how we might reclaim our Constitutional right to define and control corporations that are illegally, oppressively, and fraudulently bringing harm to the community and the planet. "Corporations may have taken our political power but they have not taken our Constitutional sovereignty. Citizens are guaranteed sovereign authority over government office-holders. Every state still has legal authority to grant and to revoke corporate charters. Corporations, large or small, still must obey all laws, serve the common good, and cause no harm. To exercise our sovereign authority over corporations, we must take back our political authority over our state governments."

A young woman volunteered to script a survey for the SOU campus in order to find out what people want from their media. Contact SOU Student Media if interested in finding out more information.

A copy of the Constitution can be found at libraries.
