ROGUE VALLEY AIR QUALITY IS UNDER ATTACK!

wes for Michael Riedeman, 01.01.2004 16:02

All,

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is proposing to remove the current effective restrictions on industrial emissions in our valley,
allowing heavy industry to spread throughout our communities and more than double the present air pollution level

The Time To ACT is Now!

There has been created a local "Keep it Clean" campaign. If this concerns you, please act now. You can help us get the word out. We have less than a month to get people involved!!!

--------------------------------------------

A poster has been developed for the "Keep it Clean" campaign, and it will be offerred soon to our IMC. In the meantime find below the text for this poster:

Do you want to see air pollution double in our valley? If not, we must act now to protect our air quality.

Why?

Because the Department of Environmental Quality is proposing to remove present and effective restrictions on industrial emissions: allowing heavy industry to spread throughout our communities and double the present air
pollution level.

What can you do?

Any or all of the following:

1. Attend the DEQ meeting January 21 at South Medford High School at 5:00 PM.

2. Contact David Collier at the DEQ Air Quality Division: 503-229-5177 or
collier.david@deq.state.or.us before January 30 and ask that all current requirements on new and expanding industry be retained.

3. Join our "Keep It Clean" coalition to help with petition drives, etc. by
contacting Gaylene at 608-0378 or  chanotin@aol.com

4. Tell everyone about this unhealthy plan!
